When you’re arranging a celebration or special event, you need more than just a party planner. You need a superstar. Tucked away on Church Street East in Brentwood is Royal Flair Events, and at the helm is owner Jennifer Haye. Quickly gaining a reputation for taking events to the next level, Jennifer’s secret is in the name … she adds a little flair!
“I have always had a passion for all things creative,” Jennifer explains, “and I love seeing things come together. I started this event planning journey back in 2009. Shortly thereafter, I had children of my own and spent endless hours planning and designing very detailed birthday parties for them, and from there, Royal Flair Events was born!”
In March, Royal Flair Events opened its storefront. The business specializes in event planning and designing, baking, home and baby gifts, greeting cards and invitations, classes for all ages and even a venue. Jennifer, who also happens to be the wife of former Tennessee Titans player Jovan Haye, recently met with us to discuss the business, and we saw firsthand her passion, dedication and excitement for what she does.
From weddings to birthday parties, Jennifer loves to create events that take guests to magical places with help from fellow event planner Miranda Tamaska. Clients can call Royal Flair Events, explain what they want and they’ll get more than they imagine. For example: mermaids. When one little girl wanted real-life mermaids at her party, Jennifer flew in the Mystic Mermaids from the Denver Aquarium to fill the request. The skilled water choreographers, trained in the art of conserving air while swimming around and interacting with the crowd, were that bit of flair that took the mermaid birthday to the next level. The mermaids swam around in the tank at The Aquarium restaurant at Opry Mills, and one mermaid in particular—Ariel—even emerged from the sea to visit with the party-goers!
“We always try to add a custom touch to all of our events, whether it be hand lettering, a uniquely designed backdrop, custom props, etc.,” says Jennifer. Each event is planned with special consideration and is custom-fit specifically to the client’s preferences, mermaids and all!
And if you don’t necessarily want an event planner, Royal Flair Events also serves as a design firm to help you create the overall look and feel for your occasion. Jennifer works as an event designer to ensure her clients’ events have that WOW factor. Case in point: An outdoor graduation party that she designed incorporated a childhood favorite in the form of a s’mores bar! Now that’s one tasty way to celebrate the future while also being brought back to the simpler times of the past!
In addition to planning and designing, Royal Flair Events has an event space in the back of the shop. Able to hold up to 30 people, the venue is perfect for more intimate affairs or children’s parties. Jennifer can transform the seemingly ordinary room into whatever her clients desire.
If you’re in the market for some heavenly sweets, master baker Audrelle Brown is in the in-store bakery, where she makes an array of fresh cupcakes from scratch every day, along with other sweet treats like chess squares, cookies, chocolate-covered Oreos, cake pops and mini pies. The charming chalkboard menu features the daily cupcake flavors, and the cupcake names are just as delightful as the treats themselves! Flavors include Star Island (key lime cake with lime cream cheese icing, topped with graham cracker crumble), Caramel Cashmere (yellow cake topped with caramel icing, sprinkled with kosher salt) and Royal Prince & Princess (white cake with confetti inside topped with buttercream frosting), to name a few. We sampled the Star Island and … WOW! Enjoy one of the cupcakes to satisfy a sugar craving, but they’re also perfect for parties. Audrelle can make just about any cupcake flavor you want (including gluten-free), complete with custom icing. You just have to ask!
Gifts & Party Supplies
Across from the bakery lies the spectacular shop filled with party supplies, hostess and baby gifts, greeting cards and festive party goodies. Some fun treasures that caught our eye were the black amber and lavender shea butter hand soaps, a serving tray that proclaims, “Paris is always a good idea,” colorful cardboard striped straws and adorable newborn picture frames that say “Love at first sight.”
If all of that isn’t enough, Royal Flair Events also offers workshops and fun activities for the general public. With approximately two events per month at present, Jennifer hopes to increase that to one per week. Options range from baking tutorials to children’s arts and everything in between.
