Remember when you were young and filled with hopes and dreams of starting your career? It is a wonderful time in your life when you feel life is your oyster- by the way, don’t forget the hot sauce. So when my artist friend, Ursula Norris, emailed me with these pictures of her buddy, a young aspiring designer of all sorts of things, I had to share her with you.
Meet Jennifer Hagan
This Kentucky native is just 26 and graduated from WKU with a major textiles, apparel and merchandising. Like so many of us, what she thought she would do in life ended up being a step to something completely different. Her story is the epitome of what inspires: one of mentors, hard work and a vision of what can be. Let’s help her realize her dream.
Here is Jennifer’s story. Click here to see her line on Facebook. It’s a new site, so be sure to become a fan so you know when she updates new photos of headbands to purchase.
An internship at a local bridal salon is where Jennifer began her career path. She specialized in making veils, headdresses and redesigning older wedding gowns. With all her skills neatly tucked under her belt, she decided to open an alterations business to capitalize of all she had learned.
Since alterations can be a little dry, especially if you are a designer at heart, Jennifer began sewing for fun. In my world, believe me, those 3 words REALLY don’t go together. She designed aprons, tu-tu’s, headbands and a variety of hairs accessories for women and children. Without a doubt, her headbands were the most popular and sold out at every show. However, Jennifer is quick to tell you that her creative juices are not going to be restricted to just headbands, but for now, this is her focus.
Down the road, Jennifer wants to open her own boutique creating clothing for men, women and children, thus incorporating in her alterations business. After seeing her ultra-chic headwear, I am sure all of you want to know how to buy a headband from Jennifer.
If you are reluctant to wear a headband, believe me, headbands are a trend worth noting. Check out: http://accessories.about.com/od/celebritystyle/ig/Celebrity-Headbands/Kristen-Bel
Ready to order? You can go on Jennifer’s Facebook page to order and she will ship them to you – el pronto. Most of her headbands are $15-$25. She is currently working on a website to showcase her creations.
Right now we are working to find Jennifer a home in Nashville. Any suggestions? Her work would be lovely fit in Pangea, Francesca’s, Fire Finch or maybe Fabu. Let me know what you think. StyleBlueprint would happily put her in contact with some shop owners in our city or the city from which you are reading this post.
And since we adore her work, StyleBlueprint has invited her to be a part of our jewelry, accessory and gift show later this year. We will keep you posted when details about the show are finalized.
For now, let’s applaud the creativity and dreams of Jennifer Hagan.
