Good ‘n gritty
Going for that warehouse chic look in your breakfast nook? These nifty little dining chairs are rough around the edges and would mix well with a farmhouse table for an industrial-rustic vibe. GHO Hoffa chair, $339.99 from Stash Home
As temps fall, bring the outdoors in with these adorable, locally handcrafted terrariums. Made by Mary Read, Upper School science teacher at Westminster Academy, the terrariums are available in multiple sizes at Bingham & Broad and cost $38 to $58. They come complete with care instructions, key for the black thumbs among us.
Quirky & quotable
When they say, “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” they’re not talking about these books. This is one instance when the cover (or at least the spine) makes the entire statement. Find these fun, decorative book quotations at Main Street Decor. Quotes and prices vary. This quote by Oscar Wilde rings in at $150.
Reflect on style
A little bit glam, a little bit country. That’s what you’ll find at First Fruit Collection, and that’s one of the many reasons we love it. These reflective, wire-wrapped, mercury glass bottles vary in size and range in price from $60 to $74. We think they’d be fun on a shelf surrounded by scattered ornaments, once it’s time to deck the halls.
Shelf of tastemakers
Every coffee table needs a great coffee table book, and we love this curated collection of design books we spied at Social. No matter your style, you’ll find great eye candy here. Plus, the pearl of wisdom from Katharine Hepburn is a fun find in itself.
Warm & stylish
This Coco jacket from Ciao is stylish and warm enough to get you through a Memphis winter — even if the temperatures dip to last year’s lows. The dramatic shawl collar stands up close to the neck so you can skip the scarf. And its shapely front hem, streamlined back and knee-length profile give it style and sophistication beyond the usual puffer coat. Plus, its filling is allergy-free. Find it at Lansky 126 for $279.
On the fringe
These boots really kick fringe up a notch, pun intended! We love the not-so-average height — shorter than a knee boot, taller than a bootie. Pair them with a casual dress or denim for a flirty night out. Dolce Vita Ileen boots from Lavish, $220
Cool weather flair
This cuddly vest by Dylan is a must-have for your closet this fall. It’s so silky-soft, you’ll have a hard time keeping your hands off it … and you should snag it fast, because they’re flying off the racks. We love it mixed with casual flannel — great for a bonfire or a casual night on, say, Wiseacre’s back deck. $155 at Oak Hall
HEALTH & BEAUTY
Scents with sass
Pick your poison, because this fragrance line by Juliette has a gun has a little something for every taste. From soft and romantic to heady and assertive, you’ll find a scent that suits your mood … or your era. Find it among the vintage treasures at Red Velvet, $135 to $145.
Now you can tan while taking a shower — talk about multitasking! At the end of your shower, simply rub this St. Tropez tanning lotion into wet skin, and then rinse with warm water after three minutes. The result is a great glow for your fall parties and Thanksgiving gatherings. Find it at Mona Esthetics for $30.
These handmade cuffs by Portland, OR-based jewelry designer Betsy & Iya are custom crafted for Memphis, modeled after the iconic Hernando de Soto Bridge. They’re available in brass ($69) and silver plate ($89) at Hoot + Louise. The Betsy & Iya Uusi hoop earrings ($59) are made from sterling and brass African trade beads.
We love the intricacy of these handcrafted pieces by Amy Wells Designs. Find a solid collection by this local jewelry designer at Loni’s Fashions. The bronze vintage drop earrings (left) are $45, and the brushed black gold, Czech glass pearl and pewter drop earrings (right) are $40. The Happy necklace is $125.

This Hedges Red Mountain syrah from Washington State is an ideal addition to your Thanksgiving table, say the experts at Wine Market. For the rich, big flavors of a traditional Thanksgiving spread, this team recommends bold reds like syrah and zinfandel. Pick up this bottle for $29.99.
Sweet & spicy
These infused oil and vinegar gift sets with flavors ranging from blood orange to coconut and cayenne pepper would make great out-of-the-box hostess gifts for holiday gatherings. Find them at Bazaar: A Crazy Little Foods Shop for $28.99.
