Fall is here! Can you feel the crispness in the air? If you are like us, you’re digging out all your sweaters, wraps, boots and fall decor from storage to bring back into the fold. Also, if you are like us, you might want to add to that fall inventory either for fashion or decor. We’ve tracked down many great FINDS for October — and we made sure to put some pumpkins in the mix, too.
BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
October has become synonymous with breast cancer awareness. While we encourage all women to get their mammograms, we also encourage the support of organizations that help in the fight to end breast cancer. One great source to find some great items for a great cause is Southern Tide, where you can shop a variety of stylish pink products, and for the month of October, 10% of all sales go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Click here to shop for the cause.
You know it’s fall when you start seeing the plaid scarves coming out. The ones at Hallmark USA Oxmoor are so soft and come in a variety of great color combinations to brighten up your fall wardrobe. Instead of brown, dark green or black, think yellow, teal and orange. Plus, they can be worn so many ways that you will find yourself wearing it all the time. These are sold for $30.
Need a clutch for the season that is a neutral but not boring? This foldover clutch from General Eccentric is perforated, giving it an extra element of texture that is finished off by the tassel. Best thing about this bag is that it is roomy — no more squeezing your phone and a little lip gloss into your purse. This will let you pack the big wallet, too! This is $38.
A crossbody bag is the workhorse of your wardrobe — especially a basic leather one — which will last you through the seasons. This bag with its sleek design is big enough to be your regular handbag day to day. Find it at Blu Boutique for $169.
You know the feeling. You look in the mirror to see an inch of gray roots and you’re not going to your hair stylist for another week. This root concealer by Eufora will get you through this trying time until you can get “refreshed.” Primp Style Lounge sells this miracle, which comes in several shades to perfectly match your hair color for $29 each.
Clique Waxing Boutique is all about the eyes, whether it be your brow shape, your lash length or even your makeup. They carry this gel eyeliner by Xtreme, which is made with Vitamin E, so it glides on easily without you having to pull or tug at your under-eye skin. Best part about this product: It lasts forever. Second best thing about this product: the colors. Check out the green and copper, which are perfect for fall. These are sold for $26.
The best way to describe this product in simple terms is to call it a “serum” but it is really much more than that. This 2-ounce glass ampoule contains a concentrated formula for your skin and it is specific to whatever ails you. There’s one for moisture, one for anti-aging, one for sensitive skin — and that’s just three of the many options. Seven ampoules come in a pack. You can use one ampoule and see the effects immediately and keep using them for up to seven days for an even greater effect. These are sold at J Michael’s Spa and Salon for $38 for a set of seven.
These popular wraps sell quickly and come in three colors: muted gold, silver and black. All have a hint of shine to them and are lightweight with buttons on the side to fasten it. This is a great wrap for a dressy outfit or even over jeans. Find it at Apricot Lane Boutique for $49.
You’ll definitely want to pick this pumpkin, especially when your little love is wearing it! SB Tip: These knit pumpkin hats are a great idea for babies who hate wearing costumes — you might have some luck keeping a hat on them. Find them at Animal Crackers for $19 each.
Wooly thread sweatshirt
Not quite a sweater but not a true sweatshirt, this comfy hybrid is at Water + Oak Outdoor Company. What caught our eye is how they styled it with a denim shirt, leggings and cute, short Hunter boots in graphite grey. We also loved the nod to Louisville. This sweatshirt is sold for $60; the soft denim long-sleeved shirt is $112; and the Hunter boots are $140.
It’s time to break out the boots, although we contend you can wear cowboy boots year-round. These brown, weathered cowboy boots are great for kickin’ around the house or wearing to the tailgate. These are at Blooms by Essential Details in LaGrange and retail for $75.
This large bowl can be used for many things but it is called a champagne bowl/chiller for a reason. It’s deep and large so that you can fill it with ice and chill your favorite champagne. But don’t forget about beer and wine too! Also, this is a great bowl for a big salad or chips. Sounds like a perfect tailgating serving piece to me. This is sold at Louisville Stoneware for $145.
Fall-inspired table linens
Time to put away the summer placemats and head over to the rich autumn palette. A good place to start is your table. Dolfinger’s has these plaid napkins, placemats and table runners all in warm browns, yellows and oranges. They also have the gorgeous dinnerware to match all the linens. The napkins are $32 for a set of six; placemats are $42 for a set of six; the table runner is $22.
This constellation pendant at Merridian Home Furnishings will bring the night sky indoors. The design of this lighting element casts a sparkling array throughout your space and lets you wish upon a star even on the cloudiest night. Currently a special order opportunity for $196, this piece will arrive at the store two weeks after ordering.
These individual jockey paintings are small — about the size of your palm — and painted on bourbon barrel staves by artist Susan Howe. There were so many to pick from, we might just have to recommend that you buy the entire lineup. With fall meet opening up at Keeneland soon and then Churchill Down’s fall meet, this will get everyone in the spirit. These are at Revelry Boutique Gallery for $35 each.
If you look on the spine of the books, you will be very familiar with the title. These are Reader’s Digest Condensed Books that we all know and love but these “retro books” have been updated with cute monogrammed covers. Form meets function here — and nothing beats a good old book. Find these at Work the Metal for $14 each.
Need a great centerpiece for the month of October? These are vintage metal pumpkins set on long stems that will get you ready for the Halloween season. These stems and many more cute pumpkin items are at Vintage Style & Designs for $12 each.
Pumpkins and tray
These gourds are not real, which means you can use them year after year without anything rotting. The best part about this arrangement of gourds is the beautiful metal oval tray — complete with rope handles — that is holding them. This entire arrangement is available at Digs Home & Garden. Pumpkins range in price from $4.50 to $40; the tray is $84.
These decorative pumpkins are sure to take your Halloween decor to the next level. This is the perfect jack-o-lantern that requires none of the carving work or it’s the perfect container to hold your Halloween candy. Either way, these pumpkins are a must-have this Halloween season. They’re available in different sizes at Celebrations, ranging in price from $43 to $79.
