Summer is the time to enjoy the great outdoors, and what better way to do that than with a picnic! Whether you are going on a date or gathering with friends or family, picnics are fun for all ages. The tricky part is figuring out what to pack. No worries! Check out Green Central Station on Highland Avenue, a one stop picnic shop.
Green Central Station offers bike rentals, and vintage-style baskets, blankets, coolers and games–like croquet, horseshoes and badminton–are all available to buy or rent on one side of the store while the other side is home to a deli with dine in or carry out service. They will pack a basket of goodies for your picnic in the park, trip to the lake or tailgating party in the football season. The throwback 50’s/60’s style wares add a vintage flair, but don’t worry, you won’t find bologna on white bread sandwichs inside!
The deli boasts “All Natural Delicious Things To Eat” ranging from breakfast-type fare (i.e., biscuits, muffins, fruit) to savory pies and snacks. Lunch includes stuffed grape leaves, cheese and fruit, salads, cold smoked salmon, pate, deviled eggs, sandwiches and sweet treats such as brownies and coconut macaroons.
While picnicking is certainly more about the company than the food, it sure is nice to have a basket full of delicious goodies ready and waiting to be devoured.
Green Central Station is located at 2608A Highland Avenue South and is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 2:30pm and Friday through Sunday 10am to 5:30pm. www.facebook.com/pages/Green-Central-Station
