I am one of those people who always wants know what you declare as your favorite meal at a restaurant or what you love to cook on a Sunday night. We have so many wonderful, local restaurants and markets in Atlanta. I love support them. To showcase my favorites, I took some photos of a few of my favorite meals from around town last month, and a few home-cooked meals, too!
Rice and Bean Soup from Jaliscos
The bean and rice soup from Jaliscos is perfect for a rainy day. With just a touch of spice and creamy avocado and cheese, it is my favorite and first choice at this neighborhood Mexican restaurant.
Star Provisions: Prosciutto and Butter Sandwich on Crusty French Bread
Another one of my go-to favorites! This delicious sandwich really does make my mouth water. It is best to share if you want to keep your meal light (the order comes with 2 halves of baguette). On this sunny day, I rounded out the meal with my favorite Star Provisions side, cucumbers with yogurt and dill.
Green Egg Pizza at Home
Our absolute favorite way to cook pizza at home is on our Big Green Egg. The flavors of the pizza and the crunch of the crust can’t be beat. On this night, I used a recipe from the food52 cookbook. And while I have always been skeptical of potatoes on pizza, this version totally changed my mind!
Filipino Glass Noodles with Vegetables and Beef and Cabbage Wontons
I love going over to Atlanta Food Truck Park now that the evenings are cooler. This was my first time stopping by the Bay Leaf truck and I will definitely be back. The glass noodles were full of fresh chopped vegetables and had a zesty sauce. And the beef and cabbage wontons were perfectly fried.
Hummus Sandwich from Sophie’s Uptown
Sophie’s is one of my go-to spots for lunch during the week. With a great location on Pharr Road and fresh, delicious food, it is always a hit. I love their hummus sandwich. The salty feta is the best part.
Dinner at Empire State South
One of our favorite things to do on a Friday night is to grab a couple of seats at the bar of one of our favorite restaurants and take in our meal as we relax and people watch. For these Friday nights, we tend to choose restaurants, like Empire State South, that are more expensive than our regular neighborhood restaurants. We have this theory that if we sit at the bar, we tend to order less, but still enjoy a meal at one of our favorite places!
Lunch at Souper Jenny
The weather wasn’t quite cold enough on this day in September to enjoy one of Souper Jenny’s homemade soups. But, I absolutely loved this wild rice salad! It was full of mushrooms, spinach, carrots, and edamame. So fresh and delicious!
Sunday Supper at Home
This just might be the epitome of Sunday supper at home! My favorite pork chops are the thin, bone-in pork chops at Whole Foods. They come from a local farm in South Georgia and are absolutely delicious!
Falafel Sandwich at Star Provisions
Another one of my favorite Sandwiches at Star Provisions. The falafel is crispy and the pickled carrots and yogurt dressing give a delicious tang.
