If, like me, you lamented the closing of Asha Gomez’ landmark restaurant Cardamom Hill, wipe those tears away. Asha wasn’t abandoning us, dear ones … on the contrary! Cardamom Hill seems to be just the first act in a series of dynamic culinary performances produced by this endlessly talented chef. Now, over in O4W’s Studioplex, the doors of Spice to Table are wide open for the next helping of Asha’s beloved Kerala-Southern-fusion-style cuisine, served up with enthusiasm, her face glowing from right behind the counter. That’s right, the counter.
Spice to Table functions as a type of Indian patisserie, or bistro, with the daily options featured behind glass, allowing you to order based on which dish delights you the most visually. Asha longed to make her menu more accessible, reinterpreting her specialties in a casual dining atmosphere. The resulting impact makes a visit to Spice to Table feel like stepping right into Asha’s house, catching her cooking something up and insisting you stay for a taste. And taste you will … every possible taste, from sweet to spicy to savory — often on one plate. This is a full-palate meal.
Follow the restaurant on Facebook to see the rotating menu headliners and treat yourself to an afternoon at Asha’s place. Chow down on a full plate, or cozy up with chai and cake while you flip through a book. Make yourself at home and celebrate the spicier side of life.
