After we wrote about our Top 10 Design Blogs, we had lots of emails asking us to do the same with a post on Top 10 Fashion Blogs. I hope you like these as much as all of us do!
We always say StyleBlueprint is about “lifestyle,” which means we cover a little bit of this and a little bit of that. We are not fashion bloggers per se, but we do write about fashion. We are constantly out in our local communities asking questions and seeing what is currently being sold at our local boutiques. And, we love to people watch. Knowing who covers fashion well online is a major tool in our cyber back pocket, and today I’m sharing SB’s go-to sites with you. These are a few of our favorite resources that keep us in the know and inspired when it comes to fashion and trends.
We’d love to know what your favorite fashion blogs are as well. So, if yours aren’t listed, comment below to let us know!
These are in no particular order:
This gal, Blair, makes me want to move to San Franciso and wear layers everyday. She may be single-handedly responsible for my new found love of bright manicures. Her approach is definitely a high/low one, with pieces from Valentino and Forever 21 mixed together. She is not afraid to wear loved pieces repeatedly, but in new ways. She is always pictured in sunglasses and is not a fan of earrings. With crisp, beautiful photography, my 13 year old and I equally love this site! atlantic-pacific.blogspot.com
Not all fashion bloggers are tall, blond and skinny. But, many are. Fighting the mold in a way you will embrace is Nicolette Mason. You may have seen her in her Marie Claire‘s monthly article “Big Girl in a Skinny World.” Follow her daily inspirations here: www.nicolettemason.com.
Founder of The Glitter Guide, Taylor Sterling has her own site, Sterling Style, where you can follow her adventures. Along the way, you’ll get a tutorial on fashion with a fun approach. www.sterlingstyle.net
Not Dead Yet
I love this blog, as its written by Patti, a 50 something, not a 20 or 30 something. She dresses in a way that is fresh and youthful, perfectly age appropriate, but with a style that could easily be adapted by younger and older readers. As the title of her blog points out, 50 somethings aren’t dead yet, even though the fashion world seems to forget this. And, as much as I ogle some of the 20 something fashion bloggers, we need some balance. This blog is refreshing, and it’s not about having photos that could be in Vogue that require a team to organize. These are photos that provide good, practical tips. notdeadyetstyle.blogspot.com
Style.com and Vogue.com
These are not blogs, but we use them pretty regularly, so I wanted to include them on this list. Style.com started in 2000 as an online umbrella that shared content and reviews with Vogue and W. Then, Vogue launched Vogue.com two years ago. Both are full of information to keep you in the know on everything from street fashion, to runways, to beauty, to must have accessories, people and party style. If I had to choose one, I’d stick with the first, Style.com. www.style.com and www.vogue.com.
Love Brown Sugar
This blog is fun and showcases Christina Brown’s fashion sense and view. She writes in a very “real” way. I love that she’s not a skinny minnie, and her smile makes me smile. I first found her when I ran across a post on a “Black Fashion Blogger Tweet Up” and I come back often because I really do appreciate getting her point of view. www.lovebrownsugar.com
I am such a huge fan of fashion bloggers who don’t dress in a…um…slutty way. (There, I said it.) One of my favorite fashion bloggers is Wendy Nguyen. She is petite, for all of you petite gals. This leaves me out, but she showcases real fashion in a way that screams personal style and substance. Her posts illustrate how your clothing talks, and in her case, her wardrobe says, “I’m one class act but I’m not afraid to have fun.” www.wendyslookbook.com
Cupcakes and Cashmere
Emily Schuman effectively created a fashion blog within a lifestyle blog. She features recipes, crafts, home decor and all the things that inspire her. You may have seen her on the TODAY show or picked up her book, under the same name. She is currently on a book tour with hundreds in line at each stop! cupcakesandcashmere.com.
This compilation of fashion and beauty inspirations is a great overview of what is currently on trend. They aren’t afraid to showcase the absurd with humor, which I appreciate! Really, if you follow this blog regularly, you will be well informed. www.refinery29.com
Keep it Chic
This blog showcases “everyday style,” but it’s certainly not my everyday (because my everyday has me arguing with myself to get out of the yoga pants). But, it’s inspiring none the less, and I do find myself mimicking trends based on what I find here. http://keepitchic.com
The Style Rookie
I have to include a number 11. I really fell hard for Tavi Gevison after seeing her interviewed on The Jimmy Fallon Show. You may have heard of this fashion gal who took the world by storm when she started blogging at the age of 11. (Funny how she’s my 11th choice… See, I do have a plan sometimes!) Fashion, to Tavi, is about personal style and wearing it–not having it wear you. Plus, she’s so fun to read. www.thestylerookie.com
I had heard of Tavi, but I actually never visited her blog before seeing this interview.
Lastly, Pinterest is amazing at showcasing tons of beautiful fashion shots and showing off what is currently trending. If you don’t have a Pinterest account, sign up here. Be sure to follow StyleBlueprint at www.pinterest.com/styleblueprint!
Each market also follows some local fashion bloggers that we hold dear.
